Our History

Who We Are

We believe that together we can restore Malawi’s environment

Sustain Green is a community-driven environmental initiative dedicated to promoting reforestation, sustainability awareness, and climate resilience across Malawi. Since launching in 2020 at Mbayani Primary School, we have planted over 40,000 trees through corporate partnerships, volunteer involvement, and grassroots community participation. Our mission is clear to plant 1,000,000 trees and empower communities to protect and restore the environment for future generations.

OBJECTIVES AND GOALS

  • To plant one million trees in Malawi.
  • To create awareness about environmental sustainability goals.
  • To create income opportunities for women in rural areas by procuring tree seedlings from them whenever we have secured a sponsor to fund our tree seedling expenses and monitoring the survival rate.
  • To improve the quality of healthy living standards of people i.e. accessing quality air, water and even natural fruits.
  • To promote community engagement.
  • To create a platform for organizations to prioritize tree planting as their main CSR and fully get involved on any environmental sustainability initiatives

Our Collaboration & Impact

  • General Alliance Insurance Limited: Partnered with us through the Kuyenda-Chokhala Promotion where each insurance policy contributed 10 tree seedlings. A total of 4,000 trees were funded and planted in Michiru Mountain (Blantyre) and Lilongwe.
  • Lifeco Holdings: Donated 3,200 tree seedlings which were planted in Blantyre and Chiradzulu districts.
  • Victoria Forex Bureau: Donated 1,000 tree seedlings, planted at Zomba Mountain.
  • Rainbow Paints: Donated 1,000 trees, planted in Chikwawa.
  • Central High School: Donated 3,000 trees, planted in Blantyre.
  • Ecoride: Donated 1,000 trees for planting at Chalambalale catchment area.
  • United Motors: Donated 1,000 trees, planted in Neno.
  • TNM: Supported the 2020 launch with awareness SMS to customers, a PA system, transportation to Manjawira for tree planting, and contributed K500,000 to pay an artist for awareness.
